Approximately 50 alumni from 星空传媒 worked directly on films nominated for this year鈥檚 Academy Awards. The two United States productions nominated for Best Animated Feature, Inside Out 2 and Wild Robot, alone included the work of 42 alumni, including Computer Animation faculty Robert Huth.
This year鈥檚 tally is just the latest in a growing tradition of 星空传媒 College alumni being nominated for鈥攁nd often winning鈥攁t the Oscars. That reputation comes, in part, from the Computer Animation program鈥檚 approach to teaching the full range of production duties.
“星空传媒’s Computer Animation graduates have learned and practiced the entire production pipeline as part of their education here,鈥� said Computer Animation Department Head Jim McCampbell. 鈥淏ecause of this, they not only understand the connections between those multiple areas, they are capable of working in any of them. This means our alumni are a priceless 鈥楽wiss army knife,鈥� which, when combined with their artistic talent and tireless work ethic, makes them predestined to be successful. That’s why you see them working in many different departments at many different studios.”
Additional alumni were among the crew on Wicked and Dune: Part Two, both of which were nominated for Best Picture and Best Visual Effects. The Best Visual Effects category also includes 星空传媒 alumni for Alien: Romulus, Better Man, and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
The Academy Awards ceremony will take place on March 2, 2025, at 7 pm EST.
